Upgrading to Espion Version 7 (V7) can be handled by our support team as a service, or completed on your own. This article provides step-by-step instructions for installing V7, preparing your system, and completing the upgrade. Resources for using new V7 features are linked at the end.
Check Hardware Compatibility with Version 7
Version 7 requires a supported hardware configuration. Espion 2 (E2) systems and Espion consoles or profile systems with AVR control boards (manufactured prior to 2017) are not compatible with this version of the software. If your system falls into this category, you can either upgrade to compatible hardware or continue using Version 6.
Here’s how to check your hardware compatibility.
Download and Install the Software
If your system uses a networked setup, be sure to update the software on all PCs connected to the same server. Tests saved in Version 7 cannot be opened in Version 6, so all connected workstations must be running V7 to ensure continued access to your data.
- Download the software setup file to your computer and run the executable (.exe) file.
- Click YES to allow this app to make changes to your device.
4. Click YES to confirm and continue setup.
5. Click Next to install Espion V7 on your computer.
6. Click Next to install the software directory: C:\Diagnosys\Espion V7.
7. Click Next to add a software shortcut to the start menu and desktop.
8. Click Next to confirm setup settings.
9. Click Finish to launch the program.
Convert Database (optional)
Version 6 software uses Firebird 2.5 as the database manager. A newer version, Firebird 5.0, is now available and is compatible with both Version 6 and Version 7 databases. While Firebird 5.0 is not required for Version 7, it is necessary for sites that require AES encryption and advanced audit trail features.
To do this yourself, here are instructions.

- LCD Monitor: MF###.CAL -or- LCD###.CAL
- ColorBurst: COLB###.CAL
