Message: [E3 Hardware] DSP-USB Hardware failed to open or be detected
Cause: Disrupted information flow between computer - control unit.
Action: 1) Make sure you have not opened up a second instance of the Espion software. Windows may be configured to open Espion application at startup. We recommend disabling that automation.

Start
button and typemsconfig
in the program and file search box. PressEnter
, and theSystem Configuration
window will be displayed. - Click the
Startup
tab and all startup programs installed on the PC will be listed. - Uncheck the check box of the program, in this case Espion, that you no longer want to start when the PC boots.
- Click
Apply
and then clickOK
. A dialog box will pop up with an option to restart the computer. ClickRestart
to reboot the PC.

2) Restart Software and Replug USB

- Close software.
- Unplug USB cord from both ends (computer & control unit)
- Replug USB.
- Open software.
- Check for error.

3) Check Drivers.

- Open Windows Start -> Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Ports tab -> Check for "other devices"
- Right click "other device" -> Update Driver Software -> Browse My Computer > Browse for C:\Multifocal -or- C:\Multifocal Espion USB Drivers > Next > Close.

4) Make sure the Windows power option called USB selective suspend is disabled. This can be found in Control Panel -> Power Settings -> Change Plan Settings -> Change Advanced Power Settings.
